I got married in Vegas and if I had to do it all over again, I'd do the exact same thing. I had been in the big fancy weddings of friends and saw all the frustration and headachin' that went along with it, not to mention the $$$ spent on something that lasted for about 2 hours tops (30 minute ceremony + 1 1/2 hour reception). And for FAAAAARRRR less money, I had a very intimate, sincere, special ceremony and then had a blast in Vegas with my husband. We didn't have to worry about anybody or anything and all the petty little details. Oh, and about half of my friends whose weddings that I attended/was in are now divorced. So, for those people who look down their nose and call a Vegas wedding "cliched", a big fancy ceremony and a few thousand dollar gown does not a happy marriage make. A true lifetime committment to someone you love is all you need.

I got married in vegas and have been married almost 18 years.
I was married before, but my husband was not and he was the one who wanted to go there. For me, I didn't want a big wedding. I had that the first time and it just wasn't worth the expense and stress. The end result was just the same without all the bills.

I think it's a matter of practicality. If you have thousands of dollars just laying around to spend on a big party and that's what you really want, then go ahead and have the big wedding. For me, after it was over, I didn't really have any good memories as everything was so rushed and I felt like I was pulled in so many different directions with no time to enjoy any of it.

I've been to Vegas,it would be fun! I hate to see Thousands of dollars spent on a weddings(many couples have been living together and even have children)then spend all this money when it could go on a down payment for a house or the money on a expensive wedding could get them a good start with setting up a household.Get married in Vegas, don't gamble to much and hope you have a happy marriage.Good luck!

its pretty tacky. If you have the money, you should get married somewhere that you will remember and somewhere that is more quiet and settle. In vegas, there is too much drinking and prostitution and gambling. get married somewhere where you'll remember forever.
