i own a repair shop in Tennessee,and i have seen this problem before on the same kind of truck..what i found was damage to the lines that help control the heater box on it they had gotten damaged someway,,and i did what you did ,,i replaced the control unit on it also,,after that didn't work,, i got in under the dash,,and found the problem,,,,it is possible that the lines may have broken,,or came off in under there,,in my case i think a mouse had eat them in to,,at least that what it looked like that happened,,after i repaired them,,everything worked fine,,good luck on yours ,,i hope this help,s

It sounds like you have a vaccum leak. Is this a vaccum controlled damper system or electric. If it's vaccum, make sure that the vaccum line coming from the engine compartment draws good vaccum. If it's electric, look for the damper arm, it will have a control motor on it. Make sure it's functioning. Also, check the damper air pot actuator if it's vaccum controlled. Good luck.

The motor that changes the door is sticking in the heat postion .Or the control module that opparates the heater control .I would take it to a good shop .
