If you want a pet that is happy sleeping most of the time and doesn't care if you pet it but once a week, get a cat. If you want an animal that will be your best bud and stay by your side, get a dog.

I have a cat and I'll tell you why.......cats are independent, they use a litter box, they don't chew up everything in site, they don't need to be walked or trained. I work all day and a cat has worked out beautifully for me. I give her lots of attention when I am home. I did have her declawed in the front so as not to ruin my furniture. She is so good for my kids and myself and we give her lots of attention. I've had dogs before and to tell you the truth, it's just like having another child. Dogs are ALOT of work. Don't get me wrong.......I actually love dogs but I also know me and they are too much responsibility.......my two children are enough!

what is your lifestyle.....dogs require alot of attention and a heavy commitment with time and training...and that is just with an adult dog. working with a puppy can be downright draining. cats dont require as much effort as a dog but they still need the attention. the workload is a lot lighter with a cat. you can find a cat that has an outgoing personality as is just as cuddly as a dog...my boy for example, comes when called, learned sit down and stay, and is one of the most affectionate doglike cats I have ever know...but there are alot more like him out there. you could also volunteer for a local shelter so you can have a little more one on one time with each. that way you can see which one you like more

I have two dogs and love them both very much. But sometimes i wish i had two cats. For the simple reason they are much easier to care for(you don't have to worry about who is going to come over and take them out if you are going out of town for the night). But to say the least i prefer my dogs over a cat any day!!!

Dogs are very loyal, friendly, playful family pets however, large breeds eat a lot and all dogs need an hour's exercise per day.
Cats are sweet, friendly, loving pets and they are better indoor pets. They don't shed a lot of hair and are clean. They eat less than dogs and need less exercise though.
Does this help you? Good luck!!!

It depends on how much time and energy you can spend on your pet. If you have unbounded time, go with a more loyal dog, but if you have a tight schedule a cat will give you just as much love, with a lot less time!

well, I'll tell you the specs of both of them. Cat's shed a lot of hair, smell very bad, and require a litter box, they are way more playful, and a lot more quiet. Dogs don't shed as much but are noisy unless you get a small one, they are a lot smarter, and they can be outside and be healthy. so personally I'd get a dog. I had a german shepard it was a good dog.

it really depend on what you want and what kind of lifestyle you have.
dogs generally require lots of attention and care from its owner. you need to bath them at least once a week so they dont stink and feed them regularly. you also need to walk them regularly so that they get their exercise.
cats are independent creatures. they require less attention and are not really fussy. as long as you feed them regularly, your cat is good to go. you might want to bath them occasionally.
if you have an active lifestyle and have ample spare time, get a dog.
either way, both (dogs or cats) make great pets.
enjoy them

it depends the amount of money you have, how much time you have. Get a dog if you have alot of time on your hands because you have to walk alot of breeds and take alot of time training them. Well for money could mean the difference of a large breed dog or a cat. it all depends. but remember to plan, plan ,plan.
