Certainly not a black widow or a brown recluse!
Some people seem to think any spider must be
one of these two. The garden spider has black
and yellow, but is probably not what you saw. In
woods in Pennsylvania the only spider I know of
that really has a yellow triangle on its abdomen is
the orb-weaving spider Verrucosa arenata, the
triangle spider. It builds webs in woods at about
head height, often across paths. The abdomen is
triangular and has a dorsal triangular spot that may
be white, yellow or pink.

Not enough information to tell here. It could be any number of spiders from that description, including a black widow spider of any sex or age.
