Like music Cd's you'd buy at Walmart, new releases. Specifically country music.

If they have protection, does that mean you can't rip them and put them on a mp3 player?

Some Sony audio CD's and ROM CD's have piracy protection. Some DVD's have it to.
It is not that they have unbreakabl protection. You can make copies using some specialized programs, but burning software like nero would read the protection and deny the copy.
Some months ago newspapers published an article about Sony's piracy protection and spreading a virus or worm on any PC that would try to make copies.

The new generation of CD coming out have protection, just like the new DVDs have it, but there is ALWAYS a way around it. The new DVDs have blank sections inserted so that DVD shrink can't back them up but with a few other programs to remove the blank sections you are good to go. If you search for it you can find a proggie to break em. I know, I have one. Good Luck!

Some do, some don't. If you read the fine print at the bottom of the back of the case it will tell you. Sony got in big trouble last year because if you put one of their CD's into your computer it installed a rootkit on your computer, which leaves your computer vulnerable.

I've heard of it, but I've never not been able to burn a cd because of it.
