Big Lou's is a wonderful BBQ restaurant. Excellent food which is very authentic to Texas. Fabulous decore. Prices are slightly high, but not outrageous. Steak Night has become an institution and is very popular with the locals. Big Lou is a character and tries to greet every customer. I highly recommend Big Lou's.

Children friendly

What do you mean by 'best'? The 'best' quality wise would be Roots, on the Camas Vancouver border. It's child friendly for well behaved children, and their children's menu is fun.

There's also Casa Grande in Vancouver. Casual but great food.

The others that come to mind are chain junky places like Red Robin (by the mall or on 164th), Ruby Tuesday (164th), Chevy's (by the mall), Friday's (by the mall), Applebee's (East Mill Plain), and even Olive Garden (by the mall).

There is also Gustav's on 164th - the restaurant is always filled with families. There's Juliana's Pizza (east Mill Plain) as well. Good pizza, casual pizzaria atmosphere. 360 pizza recently opened as well. It's VERY child friendly. It's in the same area as Roots (same owner).

There's a sweet tomatoes on Mill Plain as well, and I believe a Hometown Buffet in the Target shopping area near the mall.

There's a Spaghetti Factory, very kids friendly, in the Target shopping center off 164th, along with Arawan - kind of a thai place.

I don't know anything North of downtown vancouver, sorry!

Hope this helps you out! : )
