The damage you will do by letting your engine run too hot is about twenty times more expensive to fix that replacing the water pump.... don't do it!

It is not advisable but if you must be sure that you start out with the radiator full and coolant or water with you .If you notice the temp meter goes above 200 or if the temp lite comes on pull over and shut the engine off, let it cool down to below the lowest temp level and very carefully and slowly remove the radiator cap. Be careful as hot coolant may burn you. many people use a glove and put a rag around the cap as you loosen it.

Its very dangerous, it can and will cause overheating. The only place I would drive it is straight to a machanic, and not through traffic or any long distance.

Best bet is to get a tow from a friend

Good Luck

It depends on the car. If the pump comes loose it does a lot damage, I am talking big bucks. I wouldn't do it, if I didn't have too.

If you run it to long your waterpump shaft will get offset and the drive belt will end up falling off and yes it might overheat.

NO!!!!!!! Very quickly your motor will overheat. This will change the viscosity of your oil.(Instead of it keeping the motor lubed it will be thinned and of no use.)Your motor will sieze up.Major bucks.Don't drive it to your mechanic unless he lives next door.
