A friend has a weird painful bite on her body, and the doctor said it was a spider bite. But I was under the impression that there were no biting spiders in Canada. Perhaps that was just venemous, deadly spiders. Any info?

I came close to losing my life at age 9 from a reaction to a spider bite. Years later I became very sick from another bite. Both of them were from those type that you find in the tub sometimes.
All spiders bite. That's how they are able to feed on insects.
I say 'Squash 'em all!'

Pretty much all spiders are biting spiders. It just takes a smaller amount of poking and prodding to make a certain few spiders bite. Plus, if you were to step on or rollover onto a spider, who do you think would win that match? So spider don't usually get a chance to bite.

I think pretty much all spiders CAN bite.. but they only do in rare instances... just not all spiders are deadly is the thing
my husband and daughter have both been bitten by spiders in Canada
now the thing is deadly spiders are less common - in south Alberta you can get BLack Widows but they are shy and their deadlyness is questionable..

I don't believe we have the brown recluse spider in Canada however spiders do bite and they can carry implant the staph bacteria under the skin which is why they become infected and red and swollen and you need antibiotics to fight that back.

Well...if the doctor said it was a spidewr bite then he must think there are biting spiders there. Maybe look it up on the net.

OMG of course there are alot of spiders that are poisonous here in Canada like the Black Widow, Wolf Spider, Hobo Spider-yes i did say hobo spider. cheack them out! And these are only a few on many.
note-the hobo spider is more deadly then the brown recluse.

yes Canadian spiders bite..i live in Canada and pretty much all spiders have a bite to them just some are more worse and infectious then others

Yes, My mom was in the shower and there was a spider on the wall bigger than my fist, my mom was so scared she was paralyzed. After my dog started to breath really weirdly and we noticed a bite mark on her back, the vet said that the spider had bit her and she had a bad reaction to it. THAT WAS THE BIGGEST SPIDER I HAD EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!

well yes because all the country have spiders specialy in new york biting spiders in new york are very painfull but in canada it's just a little spider.

yes there are biting spiders in canada...there are biting spiders almost anywhere. expet ofcorse the southpole or somthing like that
