Does anyone have any good ideas for a centerpiece that we can make? It's for a Senior prom, and we were hoping to make it. The hall said if we use candles to light, we must keep them enclosed in a glass bowl. We were hoping to do something with mirrors and floating candles. Or something as simple as a vase of roses. What do you all think?
Where can we get the materials that are semi-cheap? We're in the Macomb County, MI area, and someplace like Michael's or Joann's might be too expensive. Any ideas?

You can get mirror tiles from any hardware store. Find some small fish bowls at a dollar store and some candles. Get some silk roses if you can afford them or see if your local florist will donate some in exchange for an advertisement. Using a hot glue gun, place one rose in the bottom of each fish bowl and fill with cold water. Float your candle on top. Place the fish bowl on the mirrored tile. Wallah! You could add some confetti or streamers artfully placed on the tile and running off it in your school colors if you wanted to also. Another option would be to add glitter in the bottom of the bowl in silver, gold, or your school colors. Not too much but enough to look pretty.

You could buy two different sizes of glass bowls. Put the smaller in the larger, center it, then fill in between the two with jelly beans of your school colors. Float a candle in the smaller one.

You could pickup sets of cheap glasses of varying heights and put two or three together on the mirror tile and float candles at different heights in each one.

Definately use floating candles and flowers. Shop some local $1 stores for the supplies, trying to keep with a color scheme. Go with seasonal flowers (in season at prom time). Maybe daisies or flat flowers like that. Float both flowers and candles in the same bowl, maybe with colored stones at the bottom, or just regular stones from outside. posiibilities are endless.
