I'll be rooting for you.

People will always ridicule you for something, some people will, just over look those that do. I don't think they have the courage to try a Cross Country event that takes alot of training and will power on your part for doing it. Keep your head high and go for it. If you don't in first place, remember you are still a winner because you went across the finish line, and that takes alot of self-confident within yourself.
GOOD LUCK AND KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!

oh honey, people look for a reason to ridicule others. It doesn't matter if you are fat or not. Don't let that hold you back. I was fat in highschool too, but I did EVERY sport there was including cross country, and even got scholarships. So if somebody else has a problem with the way you look, thats THEIR problem, don't let them make it yours.

Likely, people can be cruel like that. I have never been fat so I can't say that I get that whole deal, but I can offer my sentiments which are these, do whatever exercise makes you happy and ignore the snickering;rude remarks. I commend you for your efforts and the fact that you would even consider cross country while being over weight convinces me that you recognise that your health is important! And it is. Go for it. Cheers! Here's to you making a difference in yourself and paving the way for others to do the same.

My niece was fat and ran cross-country - she's not fat any more! Hell, you had the courage to post this question on the football site, so if you're willing to expose yourself to ridicule for that, go for the c-c thang.

Honestly? Yes of course. There are a lot of stupid people out there. But if it is what you want, go for it! Try your best and be an example for others who don't have your courage. The worst thing would be to quit before you even started. Don't let anyone tell you how limited your life is. Not even yourself!

Yes. If you are real fat, you should get into shape and them do cross country. That is like "running before walking" People can't laugh if you are running the distance. I respect fat people trying to get in shape, I don't respect fat people that sit around bitching about their body type.

If you are truly "fat" there is no way you could get your rump out there and run. If a thought crosses someone's mind it will be - Wow, look at them trying to get in shape!

If so don't let that get in your way. If you want to join cross country then do it. Hey I'm skinny and I could never do that so I give you props. Go for it and don't let people discourage you.
