This may be a stupid question, but here goes:

20 minutes after I took my pill I had a bowel movement...

I think this bowel movement was normal but is it normal when it comes out in small and large pieces? Or do normal bowels always come out as larger pieces?

It wasn't runny or watery so this wasn't diarrhea and wouldn't have affected the pill right?

My question is basically if this bowel movement would affect the *effectiveness* of the pill...

No worries, hon. The only thing that might affect your pill would be if you threw up. The pill doesn't go into your digestive system like a poo, it goes into your bloodstream. You're fine.

Your bowel movements should have little to do with your pill... First it takes approx 2 hours for things ingested to move out of your stomach tothe intestines.... So worring that the pill went through your body to fast is unlikely. Also, missing one pill is a risk but a small risk for pregnancy... Your bowel movement having varying texture etc is not unusual either. Your diet and exercise level can change your bowel movements in texture and freq. stress also plays in this greatly...
Also, no question is stupid, and those that don't taken them seriously are.....

It didn't effect the birth control. You may just be a little constipated. There is no exact measurement for a proper bowel movement. However, if you start feeling abdominal discomfort try taking a stool softener or laxative or add more fiber to your diet.

It hasn't got anything to do with the pill unless you received the wrong dosage. Recheck what your prescription should be to make sure your pharmacy gave you the correct dosage. It's happened before to people. Anyway, you're fine
