My gf has been taking birth control pills for three weeks now (orthotri-cycline). She recently has had her period for the last 6 days and it is not at the normally scheduled time. Is this a normal occurrence when starting these pills?

absolutely. It takes a bit for your body to get used to the extra hormones that the pill provides. Give it a couple of months and she should start becoming like clockwork... if not them I suggest trying a different medicine (NOT EVERYONE DOES WELL ON EVERY BRAND OF BIRTH CONTROL) Just keep the doctor up-to-date

I was on the pill for a long time (ortho tri-cycline 777's), 5 years at a stretch once, and I never had anything like that happen. It could be break-through bleeding, in which case she needs to go back to the doctors and have her prescription adjusted.

absolutely. it takes a while, up to a year, for the body to adjust to the hormones. I started Seasonale at the beginning of June, and had my period a full 2.5 weeks before my inactive pills. It's just breakthrough bleeding, and something that her doctor should have discussed with her.

yes, but it should become regular after a period of time due to the harmones in the pills.
