one theory is of a cosmic ray, a quark, travelling at or about the speed of light, can actually nail a piece of DNA inside a biological organism and alter it. The cell would then heal itself the best it could. Bam, mutation. It's estimated these quarks could strike the earth anywhere from 500 - 10,000 times a years.

he is a dutch scientist ,where he summarizied his observation on the spring flower plant [oentheria primrosa]
in a group of this plant he discovered one plant that differed from the rest he thought that it is a new species he collect the seeds of this plant and germinated them he found that the resulting plants were like there parents that different from the ordinary plants after that he realized that he succeeded in getting a new species this called mutation

do you mean genetic and chromosomal mutations? Mutations occur randomly. However factors such as exposure to radiation does increase the chances of mutation.
