I'm considering making a party favor for all the people who attend my daughter's first birthday party. It would be a DVD slide show of pictures of her from birth through her first year (we only have about a thousand!!), but I am looking for some fun songs to accompany the pictures.

Some songs we've already thought of are "Isn't She Lovely" by Stevie Wonder and "Thank Heaven For Little Girls" from Gigi.

What do you think? I'd like to keep it fairly upbeat, not too many tear-jerker songs.

Thanks for your help!!

This is a favor for (mostly family) to take home, we will not be showing it at the party.

It's kind of hard to come by, but Peter Blegvad's song "Daughter" (from the album Just Woke Up) is an absolutely charming ode to his baby girl: warm, light and slightly humorous. Louden Wainwright covers it (badly, imho) on the album Golden Slumbers - A Father's Love.

"When You Wish Upon a Star" by Rosemary Clooney

"Jeepers Creepers" by Louis Armstrong

"What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong

"Them There Eyes" by Billie Holiday

"B-A-B-Y" by Carla Thomas

"Be Bop a Lula" by Gene Vincent

"Baby Love" by The Supremes

"Twist & Shout" by The Beatles

You might also consider trying to find songs that have your daughter's name featured in them or some well-known soundtrack themes (like the Theme from the Magnificent Seven or something).

A few songs that might be funny background music for some sections:
"Get Up Stand Up" by Bob Marley
"My Generation" by The Who
"Career Opportunities" from The Clash's album Sandinista, which is sung by the keyboard player's children
"Girls on Film" by Duran Duran
"My Back Pages" by The Byrds (or Bob Dylan)
"I Can't Stand Up For Falling Down" - Elvis Costello

I have to say "Daddy's Little Girl". There is no one (sorry Mom) that influences and molds a little girl like her Daddy.
But it also has Mom in it.... like "your the Easter bunny to Mom and to me" would work with spring pics.
Just a suggestion and do me a favor...... remind Dad of what I said because it is the truth.
Best wishes to that little girl on her birthday!
Treasure her always.
