One year after Katrina, New Orleans is showing signs of early rebirth. The housing market is beginning to turn around and increased business and visitor travel have helped bolster the region's tax base and economy.
But the majority of indicators are troubling, pointing to much-needed progress in basic city services, infrastructure, and affordable housing for workers.
Over half the city still has no electricity or gas.
Over $2 billion of relief money has been lost to waste and fraud.

Because other disasters have happened in the year following Katrina. I do not complain about New Orleans, but the people from that area. The people need to lift a finger and help clean up instead of sitting around mooching.

I think people always complain. Face it New Orleans has HUGE problems. So does Waveland, Cameron, and St BErnard Parish to name a few.
There are tons of people working themselves crazy to rebuild their lives. There are also everyone who is helping out with love, work and compassion.
Then there is everyone else you see on TV.
