Love churches but no longer belong to one. Many churches have become too liberal. I also don't like all the repetition and repeating of phrases. This smacks of cult or brainwashing. I was raised Catholic and I quit attending mass a long time ago, when I went to my best friend's daughter's first communion I could not believe how creepy all the chanting of memorized phrases seemed. It also creeped me out because I remembered every single one and had the reflex response of reciting along with everyone else. I love the symbolism of the bread and wine and I love being in a church. I would like to go to a service where people just went in and prayed or attended discussion groups about life issues, current events and how faith can guide you. Like a faith based support group. I think it would be more interesting and would cause you to think of things to bring up at the next service. You may get insights you would not have had and it would be a chance to challenge things that may not work. I think it would be nice to end this with receiving of communion.

It depends enormously on which one you go to. I went from hating everything to do with religion because of the hypocrisy I saw around me growing up, to having it be one of the most important things in my life. Different sorts of people congregate together, and you really can't say that church's are good or bad based on just one or two. Try going to some local churches for a service if you're curious, no cover charge (and if there is, get the hell out of there and DON'T DRINK THE KOOL-AID)

I think if church was less of a bank business and more of a place with humble, open arms like Jesus taught; I would not mind attending more. I do go. Don't get me wrong, its just that passing around thousands of collection plates and people staring at me funny, knowing they just knocked up some fifteen year old in their own home makes me believe that church folks are the worst hypocrites.

The Church is in many cases just a building where people gather to worship together.

It's where I go to be with "family", to worship the LORD, to grow in Spirit and in Truth, to receive comfort and encouragement, to love, to share, to laugh, to be blessed, and many times to be convicted by His message to me that always seems fitting for what is going on in my life, my thoughts, my heart.

I didn't like it before, and I don't think I like it now. Scientology is a joke.
