It does not flip the image, it reflects it exactly. If it turned the image upside down, it would not be an exact reflection. It is like your exact double has walked behind a sheet of glass and is facing you.

It doesnt flip it left to right. Your left hand in the mirror is still your right hand. Its just a mirror image.

Because it reflects. If something reflects an image, it doesn't turn it upside down. That wouldn't make any sense, now, would it?
