I am training to be an opera singer. there is no age limit on when you can start training. it all depends on you're dedication, you're talent, and how hard you practice. get involved in a choir or a production and find yourself a private tutor. don't pick just anybody. try them out, let them know what your goals are, and look at how and where they were trained. you can look for some tutors on craigslist.com.
Give it a try and i really wish you the best of luck!!

A number of years ago I worked for an opera company and I heard some people discussing this very thing. They also said 11 years. You need to get a vocal coach ASAP.

I started voice lessons at age 7! Opera I'd say 12/13 because a 10/11 year old wouldn't know how to breathe properly, use thier diaframe, and maitain their voice!
I think you are ok!!

11 is a very good age to start or younger but i say tyou can definently start now! if you are really serious about it you can get an instructor and be singing opera professionally by the age of 20 if you work really hard!

I heard that you have to be more than 16 years old cos before this age you're not mature enough and you might hurt yourself.

Go for it! If you are willing to work hard, two years really won't make that much difference in the long run.
