the screen is frozen.

Try pressing and holding the center button for 10 secs or so. Sometimes it will reboot and free up the frozen screen.

try switching 'hold' switch off & on a few times then press the top part of the click wheel and the select button at the same time (hold for a few seconds) to reset ipod. if still not working, go to the apple.com webpage and check the support area. Good luck

call the apple support number and get a replacement ( that or take it back to the store and get a replacement from them )
