I am from Canada, the social net is what makes it the difference for people in Canada .Down side is there is waiting list to have medical procedures done and in the states you can buy medical attention right away where in Canada you may not be able to do so. Trade off for the social net is higher taxes which then means a higher cost of living.. I am always blown away by the low prices in the states but I also know the trade offs such as medi care. I don't know much about the wage difference between the two countries, the governments are structured differently but I think work similar. Instead of a governor we have a premier... I think they both suffer from the same flaws and advantages...

I think we are fairly close in a lot of ways, the one main difference other than the social net like medi care is that we aren't as free enterprise as the states are and have more government involvement which some people here would say is good and other say is interfering.
We have gone from a peace keeping role to to actively entered the war in Afghanistan we are in a much smaller way but similar to what has been happening with the states. So that is similar. There are differences other than stated or what you outlined, we may be a little more laid back and also love to laugh at our selves and the rest of the world and most people here would be applalled to get into flag waiving stuff... But basically I think we are similar and I wish that it was easier for both sides to work and live in each others country..

Personally, I would never live there. I visited a few years ago and the people were very rude & unhospitalible, they try to rip off your currency at gas stations anytime if you don't have a currency calculator. It just seems like a very urban, self centered culture up there.

All they ever talk about is the US & how they stack up to us...they are absloutly obsessed with the US.

I can't stand my country's brain dead foreign policy & lack of personal financial restraint & responsibility, but on an individual level 99% of people in the US would do anything to help a stranger or someone in need and are polite and laid back.

Health care is a definate bonus. Every Canadian citizen has health care provided by the government. The rate is determined by what your income is. If you are low income (say making under I think $20,000) you don't have to pay.

Wages depend on the area of the country that you live in, on what your trade is etc...

Have you ever seen "Bowling for Columbine"? Moore goes into detail about a lot of things about Canada, the best of which is the lower crime rates. Thier poloticians actually talk about stuff that is meaningful.
