i saw a video on youtube saying ville must be emo. meaning ville valo, who I guess is goth? i was just wondering what the difference(s) are/were whatever.

Emo officially means Emotional Rock, but has (arguably justifiably?) come to be a watchword for unlistenably whiney, soul-less wannabe punk-thrash music that's inexplicably popular amongst teens. It's hardly Elvis, is it.
Goths would be mortified to be associated with Emo, and vice versa. Emos think goths are terribly uncool. Goths think emos are far too shallow (! :-)) and could do with a dash of their long, long history. (sarah connor's ill fated friend in terminator 1 was arguably a goth)

Goths embrace darkness and melancholy in life. Emo's simply are emotional and express themselves through screaming and drama. They each have their own specific style: Goth is mostly Black attire, while emo's tend to be a bit more Converse and Teenage.

Whoa k then! umm lets see EMO means EMOtional!!! and well it is emo music and well there is also just an emo style of dressing too. (ME! i luv emo music and i like the way i kinda dress too) ok and for goth vs emo well i gotta go with EMO cuz emo rox. and if no one has ever told you b4 EMO guys=HAWT!!! OMG HAWT!!! Emo means, emotional.
Goth vs. emo means, the fight of the two popular cultural, to determine which is the cooler/coolest. This is largely based on their image and appearance.

Emo is short for emotionally disturbed.A lot of people refer to punk rockers and rockers as emo. Or just people who keep to themselves and don't talk to people. Some of them cut themselves but not all. And a lot of the time they are depressed.

emo is actually short for emotional hardcore and is a term to describe music not people, but its basically lost all meaning.
