My daughter wants a tattoo for her 16th birthday. I'm willing to go with her and sign for her but the county we live in won't allow it until she's 17.

You are some cool mom. Just wait till the next stupid trend comes along. You should get her a mullet while you are at it. Bless you and your profound stupidity. But at least it will "mean something". It's always good to have to pander to your daughters "wants" so you can keep your "cool mom" status.

Don't do it.

She's 16--she may think she knows what looks cool now, but in reality she'll want to have it lasered off at the ripe age of 20.

Make her wait and think about it. Let her day a year (if not two) of research as to what design will last her through the decades and which tatoo artist is the best for her. It shouldn't be a spurr of the moment decision, and at 18 she will have changed a LOT.
