They don't really SWIM around! I just took out my plastic plant and replaced it with a little cave. And these blue things started to move around as I disturbed the rocks. I took them out with a turkey baster, and they don't seem "alive". I don't know how else to explain it.

ok for all those who are suggesting "worms" or anything related.. i'm 99% sure that it isn't. they're not moving around like live creatures! they just float up when I move anything around the bowl, and sink back down.

Do you think that they could be fish spawn - you know, babies? I've never heard of this before...is it a male betta or a female betta? They will leave a "bubble ring" around the top of the bowl - fish eggs! I couldn't really tell you more about it, unless I could actually see these "little blue things..."

sure, of their organic habitat, or an suited sized tank, they are surely fairly energetic and swims close to the exterior. they could nonetheless stay in a restrained area the place maximum different species could die, yet this potential made them to be offered in those betta plastic tank which you spot plenty in wal-mart. I inherited a betta from a coworker as quickly as (fish is termed Jungle Bunny), who merely did no longer elect to preserve the fish anymore. whilst dwelling in his prism cup, he keeps to be very nonetheless and purely strikes slightly while fed. yet as quickly as the betta is going into my tank, he turns into an avid swimmer! He likes to swim up contemporary against the flow from the clear out, dives down, then comes decrease back up in a circle. particularly circumstances he will merely bypass decrease backward and forward alongside the tank besides. He rather does have his very own character, very energetic yet no longer a bully with the different tankmates. He lived a notably fruitful existence for greater or less 3 years earlier passing away.

Is your gravel blue? When you buy new gravel you have to rinse it before use. If that is indeed what the blue things are, there is no need to worry, your fish will be safe.

can you be a little more specific? do they stick to the sides at all? Or on your betta? You might have to take your betta out, then wash it with HOT HOT BOILING water. Change all the gravle too. Then do water changes so they dont come back.

Sounds like ribbon worms (nemerteans). They are scavengers feeding on the accumulated detritus (wastes) in the gravel.

Those little worms, I get them in my tank too.
Their just eating the crap on the bottom.

I've only seen white ones, but I'm sure thats what they are.

It probably doesn't matter what they are, it is live food for your fish. Yum yum.
