**EDITED: I thought of a few more songs & added them. Couldn't resist, sorry LOL!
Love Will Build a Bridge -The Judds
About over coming obstacles & strengthening bonds w/those we love.
Water From the Moon -Celine Dion
Yearning for someone you love, willing to do anything to gain their love & attention
Georgia -Ray Charles
No, this song is not about the state of Georgia, rather it's about reminiscing about a lost love.
Lightening Crashes -Live
About the circle of life & regrets that come when we realize that it's too late to change things.
Graceland -Paul Simon
I really like the part where he sings, "Losing love is like a window in your heart, everyone sees that you're blown apart, everyone can feel the wind blow..."
Can't Cry Hard Enough -Williams Brothers
Sadly, it's been immortalized as the unofficial 9/11 anthem, however, this song was originally about dealing w/the loss of a child. It was played at my friend's, son's funeral last yr, as well, after he drowned at 4.
Close to My Heart -Dar Williams
It's about love lost. Beautifully sung as well.
Moonsong -Laura Distasi
Beautifully sung & the lyrics are dream like
China -Tori Amos
It's about growing apart from the love of your life
So Far Away -The Offspring
It's about losing someone you love as well. Even though the beat of the song has an upwards temp, just listen to the lyrics. I actually get misty eyed listening to this song.
Blvd. of Broken Dreams -Green Day
Yes, I know, everyone has probably heard this song about 1 billion times by now, but have you ever really listened to the lyrics?
Midnight Special -Credence Clearwater Revival
Based upon the true story of a man wrongly convicted of murder in the 1940's Texas & how his wife was able to actually get him cleared just seconds before he was to be executed.
Watercolours in the Rain -Roxette
It's about surviving the death of your love. Sung very beautifully, the lyrics are very down to earth.
Send in the Clowns -Judy Collins
About the tragedies, mistakes & disappointments of life.
Don't Cry -Seal
I can't say enough about this man's talent, God he is incredibly so talented. I love this song.
Something to Believe In -Poison
The song has always spoke to me since I was a little girl. It still rings so true about our society today.
You Used to Love to Dance -Melissa Etheridge
The song really draws me in.
I Will Never Be the Same -Melissa Etheridge
If you aren't familiar w/her songs, regardless of what genre you usually listen to, her stuff is really worth checking out. I encourage music lovers to really sit down one day or evening, some where quiet & alone & really listen to her albums song by song. Each album is like a novel & each song is a chapter in it. (Those of you, like me, who've read her autobiography & know her pretty well, will be able to best pin-point where she was in her life which each song & album.) Her earlier stuff really is bitter sweet.
Talking to My Angel -Melissa Etheridge
This song was about her relationship w/her father & about reflecting back on her life & the mistakes she's made in them.
Streets of Philadelphia -Bruce Springstein
Pink Houses -John Mellencamp
It's about the disintegration of America, our heritage & historic places & about the loss of family values & togetherness. It really speaks to me.
Bobby McGee -Janis Joplin
Brown-Eyed Girl -Van Morrison
There's just something really nostalgic about these 2 songs.

Anything by mewithoutYou. They have amazing lyrics such as:
I Never Said That I Was Brave:
You might sleep, but you'll never dream
Onward! Progress! Or so it seems.
You might laugh, but you'll never smile.
Come on in and waste away awhile.
When dreams of rings of flowers fade and blur
Giving way to that familiar ill
come over and part your soft white curtains
Where I'm waiting for you still
If you'd unlatch the window,
If you'd let me lay there on your floor
If you'd give me another chance,
If you'd forget the pain I caused before
No use in saying how I'm sorry
So I'm trying not to speak
I'll sing in silence, lay beside you
With my face there on your cheek
My stomach swears there's comfort there
In the warmth of the blankets on your bed
My stomach's always been a liar-
I'll believe it's lies again.
They are non-secular, though, and you may not be into that kind of stuff...

What's The Frequency, Kenneth? (by REM)
"What's the frequency, Kenneth?" is your Benzedrine, uh-huh
I was brain-dead, locked out, numb, not up to speed
I thought I'd pegged you an idiot's dream
Tunnel vision from the outsider's screen
I never understood the frequency, uh-huh
You wore our expectations like an armored suit, uh-huh
I'd studied your cartoons, radio, music, tv, movies, magazines
Richard said, "Withdrawal in disgust is not the same as apathy"
A smile like the cartoon, tooth for a tooth
You said that irony was the shackles of youth
You wore a shirt of violent green, uh-huh
I never understood the frequency, uh-huh
"What's the frequency, Kenneth?" is your Benzedrine, uh-huh
Butterfly decal, rearview mirror, dogging the scene
You smile like the cartoon, tooth for a tooth
You said that irony was the shackles of youth
You wore a shirt of violent green, uh-huh
I never understood the frequency, uh-huh
You wore our expectations like an armored suit, uh-huh
I couldn't understand
You said that irony was the shackles of youth, uh-huh
I couldn't understand
You wore a shirt of violent green, uh-huh
I couldn't understand
I never understood, don't f^ck with me, uh-huh

Artist Name- 30 seconds to mars
Song lyrics- The kill
What if I wanted to break
Laugh it all off in your face
What would you do?
What if I fell to the floor?
Couldn’t take this anymore
What would you do, do, do?
Come break me down
Bury me, bury me
I am finished with you
What if I wanted to fight
Beg for the rest of my life
What would you do? (do, do)
You say you wanted more
What are you waiting for?
I’m not running from you
Come break me down
Bury me, bury me
I am finished with you
Look in my eyes
You’re killing me, killing me
All I wanted was you
I tried to be someone else
But nothing seemed to change
I know now, this is who I really am inside
Finally found myself
Fighting for a chance
I know now, this is who I really am
Come break me down
Bury me, bury me
I am finished with you, you, you
Look in my eyes
You’re killing me, killing me
All I wanted was you
Come break me down
Break me down
Break me down
What if I wanted to break?
