After open heart surgery, it is usually advised to start cardiac exercises program. What is the best, and most practical program available ? Is it possible to regain the same physical strength that existed before surgery?

My father in law had heart surgery and the hospital had a cardiac rehab program. The started the patients off walking on teadmills. By 6 weeks postop he could outpace me walking the neighborhood and I am about 45 years younger than him.

Use a treadmill. Start your program with no incline and a slow pace. Building up speed gradually. Best done under Doctor's guidance. Resistance and weight training should definitely be done under Physical therapist or doctor care

walking. swimming. aerobic exercise. basically anything that gets the heart rate up for at least 30 minutes, 4 times a week.

after my dad had a heart attack at age 38, the doctors put him on a treadmill twice a day, 3 times a week.
