If there is so much sodium, why is the gov't not looking into this? Plus the plastic bottles are an enviromental concern. But it seems the gov't does give a ****, because they collect all the taxes!

Just about everything we consume has sodium in it. Whether it is packaged and processed by a government monitered producer or not. Our bodies are actually made up of quite a bit of different types of sodium. Yes, the government sucks, and yes they all LIE and keep HORRIBLE secrets from us, and forget where the REAL war is, but salt in the water shouldn't be worried about too much. If Mother Nature had a Nutrition Information label on fresh water found in streams, you would probably find as much or more sodium content in that then the bottled water, regulated by Bush.

Bottled water isn't "laced" with sodium. The sodium is a naturally -occuring mineral that is in the water when it is extracted from the earth. The 500-odd parts per million of sodium is nothing compared to the huge amounts of salt routinely added to processed foods and snacks like chips.

Salt actually helps to retain the water inside your body, so as to KEEP you hydrated. Feeling thirsty afterward in your throat is just because it's pulling water from that part of your body to whatever little storage area your body has chosen for you.

But it's really in bottled water because it is either a byproduct or was taken out of whatever "spring" along with the water. Salt is in almost everything, especially things that come out of the ground. And it's not really a bad thing.

Most bottled water contains a statement, 'no sodium'. Why would the spring water companies want to put sale in their water?

Because sodium makes you drink more water and that means more profit for coke or whatever company it is.
