just go to the petstore and buy a real decorative fish cave. or you can get a big abalone shell, dig a small "path" in the gravel or prop it up somehow so your fish can hide under the shell. I tried it with my guppies, they love hiding under the abalone shell. But i wouldnt recoment styrofoam because it could have some kind of chemicals in it or could break down and ur fish could accidentily eat it.

Styrofoam cups float, so your betta will use it more as a base for his bubblenest. Thats how i get mine to build a big one so they breed.

The bestest and cheapest way is go to the therift store, and buy a small glass vase, cup, or something of that sort. I have light fixtures in my and a vase in my 55 gallon aquarium and they love it. Just bleach it and let it air out a day or so.
