This is a godsend. Trust me, it's the best thing to happen to women shaving their legs. I practically never cut my legs now. My sister and I love it!!!

Use shaving cream. I would recommen that you use an Aveeno-based shaving cream. You can shave after or before you bathe; just put a small amunt on your palm, then rub the shaving cream between your palms as if you were using hand soap. Now, apply the cream to your legs, like if it were body lotion. It's also a good plan to use an electric shaver. I highy recommend that you use Venus Vibrance by Gillette -- this way, the razor lasts up for more than a month, because regular disposable razors pull a bit after only like a week of use. Careful when you get to your knees -- you want to make sure you don't go too hard on that area. I usually don't get cut, but sometimes if I do, my knees are the likely victims. Remember -- use an Aveeno shaving cream and Venus Vibrance (battery-powered shaver) for best results and less cuts!

I use the Gillette Sensor (for women). Been using it for the past 10 years and I do not have a problem. You dont have to worry about what angle to hold it because it is so designed with us women in mind. You must use shaving cream and if you run out as we women always do, use shampoo or a bath/shower gel to get a rich lather. The purpose of the shaving cream is to allow the razor to lide easily and evenly over your legs thereby preventing you from cutting yourself. Spend time to shave. Shave each leg with slow even strokes, and with overlapping paths. The paths will be determined by the track of the razor through the lather. Change the blade before it gets worn. A worn blade is a sure way to cut yourself since you will have to apply more pressure to do the job. Shaving at nights for me is always best since I am more relaxed and not in a rush. Good luck!

I always lather up my legs with Dove soap (cheaper than shaving gel because you can use soap on your whole body) as soon as I get in the shower. Then I keep the suds on while I wash and condition my hair. It's good for your legs to become soft before you shave. After that, just take everyone elses advice, go slow and DON'T put a lot of pressure on the razor. And don't forget to moisturize after you get out of the shower and at least one other time during the day!!!!!

Shave at the end of a hot bath..it saves my legs! Also, use a gel or cream. Razors with the gel coating also help. Shave with the direction of the hair, then against for the closest shave without cutting!

Most important is to soak your legs for a while first. This softens the hair and makes it easier to shave. Always use a good shave lotion or gel, a good one to try is Bikini Zone, it's clear so you can see what your doing plus it gives extra protection against cuts all over cuz it was made for your most sensitive and hard to get to spot. I use it for all areas, legs, underarms, and bikini line. You also want to be using a good sharp razor held firmly at the correct angle.
Good Luck

I use men's razors and shaving cream. For some reason men's shaving care works a lot better than women's. I have corse hair, so noting worked for me with irritation and cuts. I use the new Gillette Fusion Power with the Gillette Hydra Gel. I now don't have ANY irritation or cuts, and my legs are so smooth. Try that razor and the gel, I'm sure you'll love them.

It's hard not to cut yourself with a new razor because it's so sharp from never being used before.
The only suggestion I have is to take your shaving "swipes" nice and slow. And I do mean slow. Don't get too rushed. Rushed shaving jobs will definitely result in lots of nicks and cuts.
Also, moisturized, healthy skin won't nick as badly as drier skin. On healthy, supple skin, the razor will glide much easier and you won't have as many bloody massacres in the aftermath.

make sure that your skin has absorbed alot of moisture first, and then use plenty of shaving cream/gel. If your skin gets cut or comes out dry, use some lotion (baby lotion works best for me) and it will soften it up and ease the pain. I tried using it in combination with the shaving cream when I had a major problem of getting cut, and it saved me alot of grief. I even tried shaving my skin while not in the shower by using plenty of lotion instead of the shaving cream, and I was left soft and smooth without any cuts.
.... just some ideas

if you are just using a regular, straight, disposable razor here are a few tricks that will help
moisturize your legs 30 minutes before shaving, dry skin cuts easily
use hair conditioner under your shaving cream...first smooth the conditioner on, then smooth the shaving cream on
ultra sensitive men's Beard cream provides better protection than any women's gel
