sorry but sounds like you're about to invest in a new clutch. for a true test try to take off in high gear. if the engine stalls it will nurse for awhile yet

whatsinhotdogs- the valves are cloged? I would LOVE to know how you came to that conclusion!
The clutch is going out. You have worn the friction material off your clutch disc more than likely. And it isn't the engine that is slipping- it's the transmission.

02 accords are notorious for the auto trannys droppin out in them...get it checked and callyour honda dealer there is a trans extension on the warranty on some of them depending on the mileage u may get it done for free its probably goin to end up having a code p0740 tcc clutch failure....there are no diagnostics for it...it says to replace tranny no if ands or butts about it

Well, first off, get a diagnostic done. If you have a Autozone close by, they usually check that for free. If not, then you may need a clutch replaced, if its a 5 speed, since you didn't say.

If its a stick the clutch is slipping and if its an automatic the transmission is slipping, (engines don't slip).

your best bet is to get the check engine light diagnose , it tell you exactly what wrong or atleast itll point you to the problem , it can be something as simple as a loose harness connection, or bad enough to be a transmission

The valves have probably clogged. You need to insert a declogger shaft in the engine... Honda may do this for free
