Ok... here's the thing, I have a best friend for like 2 years now, and everytime we've talked she would talk normal, saying every word right. Now she is going to this school that is way different and almost all the kids talk "gangsta", and now she is starting to talk like them. I'm not saying it's stupid, all I'm saying it's that I feel like I'm not talking to my best friend anymore... and it's really sad because she says she can't stop talking like that but I know she can at least try and talk normal. And I swear to god I'm not racist because she is black and she is my best friend for a loooong time. So please what can I do to make her talk normal again???

She probably started talking that way to fit in with the girls at this other school. Social situations can be very awkward. Unfortunately, you can't really MAKE her talk "normal" again. She's going to talk the way she chooses to, and even then, we pick up on verbal habits from those around us all the time (after all, we learn to talk from listening.)

Despite the fact that she speaks in a different manner now, she's still the same person you've known for 2 years. Try to understand that she's just adapting to her surroundings, and that, over time, her situation might change and she'll be back to "normal talk."

As everyone else has already stated she has probably picked up the talk as a way to adapt to her surroundings. It may be hard for her to steer away from it almost like an accent. However, perhaps you can try by encouraging her and telling her to just be herself around you. The other thing is ...... no matter how she speaks now she is still your friend and still the same person in side. So I don't think the new way of speaking is that big of deal. If she prefers, or can not seem to stop, talking this way, don't let it bother you. She is still your friend and she is still the same at heart.

What is the difference between sounding "black" and sounding "white"? Everybody talks in a certain way and it doesn't matter what it sounds like. If you really want to say something to her about that, then do it. Keep in mind that you can't change the way a person talks. Eventually, she'll realize that the way she talks sounds silly and she can learn how to really speak again. It could be that she found herself and likes the way she talks. If you want to continue to be her friend, you'll have to accept her for who she is. I hope my advice helps. Good luck.

She talks like that because she needs to fit into her new surroundings. She would be an outcast if all of the other students talked one way and she talked another. She is only protecting herself. Sorry.

well if u r her best friend then u should respect her change, everyone goes throught the period where they change to fit in, since everyone in her school speaks that way, she doesnt want to feel odd so try to understand her. and second being a gangster and acting like one is two different things...
