It's always cold, pure snow melt. You could attempt to though, but I doubt you would be in the water unless you get used to cold water well. I personally go in occasionally, and not for very long, just to splash around and get wet. And thats in summer.

Warm is relative term. Lake Tahoe will be warm-er than it is in, say, December, but the water is always very cold. Swim at your own peril!

it's snowmelt. it's always cold. you might try the lake at sly park; it's (slightly) warmer and i think the scenery is better. but if you've already made reservations at tahoe, have a ball and bring warm towels.
