A good move. The 3,200 year, 83 ton statue of Ramses II has been moved from a square in downtown Cairo in front the railroad station to a park like setting near the Pyramids.
Pollution from vehicle exhaust fumes was in the process of destroying the monument. It's new location will be a great addition to the Pyramids, Sphinx and other artifacts area; both for the statute and tourists alike. It went hardly noticed in it's previous location. Drawback is that I read it will take perhaps five years to recondition the statue and construct an appropriate site to exhibit it.
