No, you're not crazy. You just aren't in someone else's head to hear all of their doubts, that's all. I would find out if there are any classes you'll need to take to prepare for nursing, and find electives from now until graduation that would fit both paths. Apply to nursing schools along with radiology schools. This will extend the amount of time you have to make your decisions. As for making your decision, if you're really stuck, you can start listing your value criteria (meaning what do you value out of the education) and putting a % weight behind each value criterion. Then rank radiology and nursing against your values using a 1 (least) to 5 (most) scale. Multiply the weights and scores, add them up, and it'll show you what your mind is wrestling with. I know it sounds very clinical (not to mention geeky), but it works. Doing it in excel makes it very simple (and you can hide the weights of the criteria so you don't skew your own evaluation).

I sure know what you are going through. I still can't make up my mind if I want to go into nursing or another form of healthcare or even perhaps a criminal justice field.
It is so frustrating.

What I know is that any type of healthcare field is in big demand, and much higher in the Southern and Western States. That is due to a lot of the older folks that retire are heading down south from the north or out west from the north. Its the weather.

All I can say is that you have to do what ever you feel you are called to do. You will know it without a shadow of a doubt. If you are religious, pray and ask for the right direction you should take.

Another thing I know is that a lot of people can be a nurse but it takes a special person to have the compassion needed to become a great nurse. Think about that and then see if you can make your choice. Also if you are close to radiology, you might be able to have a lot of your former courses converted over for nursing credits. Speak to your academic advisor. Good luck.

from the time I was 5 until the end of my junior year of college, I was going to med school, no doubt in my mind. that summer after junior year, I had some doubts. I decided to go into public health instead. It's a pretty scary thing to change your mind, but if you're not truly passionate about your first career choice, you shouldn't do it. Why would you want to be stuck in a career you hate?

It is never too late to change your mind. You said you already applied to schools, but if they accept you, you can always turn down their offer and go with nursing instead. Should you decide later on that you would like to pursue radiology, you can always go back to school. At least you are thinking about a field that is similar to the first that you chose, so the classes that you took weren't a waste of your time.

It may be difficult, but not impossible.
The stuff you learn in college is not wasted, as there are overlaps in radiology and nursing modules.
You are deciding on a lifelong career, so spending more time in preparing for nursing may be a good investment.
Go for your passion.

However, nursing is a very tough job. Be prepared to give of your love, expertise and time to your patients and to assist the doctors.

I think a lot of people go through a similar experience during college. Just decide what you WANT to do as career, what you would enjoy doing the most and don't worry about anything else like money or someone else's expectations.

Yes, it is scary. But don't worry about changing your mind. These moments of fear should not cause a lifetime of an unhappy profession. Remember that it is your life, do with it what you want.
