No one HAS TO drink.....it is a choice usually based on parental influence (their parents drink)...
instead of using a party to learn social skills, some use it as an excuse to drink and some use it as a place to find others to abuse, rape or sell drugs to ...
glad you asked...
using alcohol to create a false sense of confidence is dishonest to others & ones self & gets in the way of learning from experience...

It is all in the party you go to. Going for fun and being with friends, or going to make a social statement.

Sometimes parties are just social obligations, which unless you want to look like a jerk, you say you enjoy. Drinking at those parties really helps.

Okay when I was in college, I used to throw some pretty wild parties that would last until 7 a.m. the next morning. No one was drunk and no one had drugs. My rule - no drinking, no drugs. If you need these things to have fun you don't belong at my party. We had fun. We had a streaker in the back yard (yes he was sober - someone dared him and he took them up on it). We had the 3 a.m. doughnut run from Dunkin' Doughnuts. We had a group dog walk at about midnight. I was ready for the party to end, but my friends weren't. I think people who drink at parties are pretty insecure in who they are and they need to drink to make people like them. That is so untrue, look at my parties. This happened every time I had a party.
