In small amounts (large glass), DI water has no effect on most people. Consuming large amounts (half gallon) in a short time frame (8 hours) can disrupt the electrolyte balance sufficiently to show up in blood work. Common symptom include headaches which dissipate as soon as the imbalance is corrected. Certain sensitive individuals may experience symptoms consuming as little as one glass.

You can drink distilled water for the rest of your life, if you eating normal food. The lack of minerals in the water will be compensated by the minerals in the food. So many people are drinking Reverse Osmosis water for years. That also does not have minerals.

Yes you can. Supposedly DI or distilled water can help reduce bloating and water weight. But if you drink it for more than a few days it will mess up the mineral balace in your body.

Sure, you can drink DI water. It doesn't have the "normal" mineral content...but, despite some other people's answers, this is *not* a problem.
The amount of minerals that you get from water is extremely small. The vast, vast majority of mineral intake is from foods.

No- At least that's what I heard from biologists and chemists. DI water has no ions so when the water goes into your body, the cells absorb them. To keep balanced, the cells have ions out but no ions in, and in the end the cells will explode. So i dont drink it anymore...

I read in my fitness book that you can in fact drink distilled or deionized water, but take vitamin supplements. Purified water does a great job cleaning your kidneys out.

It's safe in small amounts but it also implies that you are near a source of potable water so why not drink that instead?
