Okay, I want to be a model . Right now, I'm 15 yrs. , 5'3'' and 130 lbs. What can I do to improve my chances. I'm hoping my "real" body will get me attention...people have to get tired of hangers...

I know...if real people are gonna wear the clothes, shouldn't the model be "real"? I've got beautiful curves, and i'm proud! To all teen girls: Love your body, be healthy! God made you you for a purpose!

Anyone can be a model as long as they have the right attitude, measurements are not set in stone people look for a unique look not just a few numbers. If you are happy with the work, and don't expect overnight success, you will be fine. If you are actually thinking about it here is some advise.

I have heard a lot of bad thing about SOME (not all) modelling agencies and how they make you pay for photos and photo sessions before they take you on then never give you any work. Always check with the local Better Business Bureau in teh US or Trading Standards in the Uk or Similar organisation elsewhere.

I think a better starting place before you go to agencies is if you have a friend who is reasonable with a camera (do not have to be a professional or even that good just okay) Just take 100 photos of yourself in different poses, clothing and backgrounds then pick out 10-20 nice photos. You can then use this as a portfolio, and even better instead of printing them which cost you money every time, host them on a website and get some business cards print with the website address on and just hand these out instead. This is a far cheaper way of doing it and with no RISK. You should never have to pay to get a job if you do there is a high chance it is a scam.

However if you would like a personal portfolio site please contact me and I will set you on up for free. I can design you a fully personalised flash website with as much or little information and then host it for you. This site can contain a gallery of your photos, personal information, list of work, contact details, etc or if you prefer just a couple of photos and nothing else. It can be password protected and all images will be protected as is humanly possible, or the photos can be available to download.

Examples of work can be provided on request. Just message me here if you want, I am a professional website designer but have lots of free time (and enough money) so I am currently doing free sites for small bands, small artist etc, basically anyone who could not afford them otherwise. I have my own hosting server so can offer hosting servers or you can host the site yourselves. No images sent to me will be used for anything other than your site and I will not give anyone your detail or link to the site. You will have complete control and the site can be removed or changed at any time. This is not a scam and I will design a site for FREE, I do not need the money, and enjoy working. If you do want it message me you can tell me what you want and how you want it done and I will help.

Depending how old you are I may require parents permission before i will do any work.

You aren't going to be a runway or high fashion model. You can starve yourself skinny, but you still aren't tall enough. I'm glad you don't want to be one! They are literally walking clothes hangers. That shape is preferred because it makes the clothes look good without the distraction of a real body.

If you just want to model as a real person, I would suggest seeing if your local newspaper needs models for feature stories. I do this and it's a lot of fun, I don't get paid, but I enjoy it nonetheless!

you need to lose some weight because 5"3 and 130 pounds is probably a bit heavy, and models are usually thin but if you really like your curves and love your body, don't listen to me. Because you are not tall, you need a very cute personality, as well as a very proportional body, nice skin, straight teeth, you know. get a gig in crigslist or something and start there.

Why does 'real' always mean overweight? Not that being as skinny as catwalk models is any more 'real', but why can't 'real' just mean healthy middle size fit weight. Sorry, it just annoys me. I'm sure you're really pretty and that, so yeah, just go to a pro. photographer and build up a portfolio and send it to some agencies or something.

WELL EVERY MODEL NEEDS A PORFOLIO. YOU CAN EITHER GET A FRIEND TO TAKE SOME PICTURES OF YOU OR GET IT PROFESSIONALLY DONE. THEN SEARCH FOR SOME AGENCIES IN YOUR AREA. SEND YOUR PICS TO SOME AGENCIES. YOU CAN GO TO YAHOO SEARCH TO FIND AGENCIES NEAR YOU. SOMETIMES SCOUTS WILL COME TO YOUR AREA TO FIND TALENT. YOU CAN GO TO THEIR OPEN CASTING CALL. IF YOU WANT TO GO THE EASY WAY YOU CAN GET AN ONLINE PORFOLIO. FOR CHEAP OR FREE! HERE ARE SOME WEBSITES-

I am 5'3/5'4 in between, I am 115lbs and I also want to be a model. It takes ALOT to be one, mostly confidence. If you are not confident and you tell everyone you are, once they figure out your really not, you're career will go way downhill.

If you want to be a real model, from what you described, that sounds real to me! Find a place that wants you for you, but I don't think you need to change! Good for you!
And thanks for trying to be real... a lot of the magazines and stores really puch the "thin and blond" and it gets old!
Good luck!
