I truely understand where you are coming from. And, I agree. However, so many people love rap - including me! That does not mean I like rap now. I like (early) 90's more. If you don't like those songs... Then, just change the channel and ignore them. No one is forcing anyone to listen to them. And, yes these songs are bad messages...But, at the same time some of the songs are nasty because that might be what the rapper goes through.

Want real rap?

I suggest you first listen to Tupac's songs like (Dear mama, Brenda's got a baby, White Man'z world, Keep ya head up, changes...etc) YOu can listen to some of Eminem's really good songs (lose yourself)... Listen to old school rap........ :)

i like rap but i think it is a shame that women are exploited and disrespected just to make a dollar. but everyone has to make a living and this is the easiest way to do it. however, All RAP music does not exploit women. unfortunately, sex sells in everything from selling perfume to a pair of sneaker. and guest what women and young girls are applying to be in the videos. but once again those girls need money as well. and all you have to do is show skin, move, and look pretty. there are rappers who exploit and there are others who do not. and another thing some of those rapperss are not criminals. they just play that image so they can be cool. being cool and looking sexy can put on your table and a roof over your head.

While I respect everyone's right to an opinion and generally stay open-minded, this is a subject i am extremely opinionated about.

It all boils down to people refusing to take responsibilites for themselves and their actions. Rap, like any other form of entertainment is just that entertainment. Unfortunately there are some "special" ones among us who take everything said on a rap album literarily. Parents need to teach their kids to seperate fiction from reality and adults need to be able to tell the difference between fantasy and reality.

Personally, I like rap music. Like any other music genre, you don't like all the artists or their lyrics. But to stereotypically categorize all rappers as promoting violence and disrepect to women, well that just seems hypocritical to me. Its hypocrisy because you on the one hand say rappers call ALL women bitches but then you call ALL rappers gangsta rappers.

Let's not be lazy people and do our due diligence before we go out spitting uninformed garbage

I'm 52 years old and have listened to it some when my boys were teenagers. Some of it is getting better but the gangster rap is hideous. It takes no talent at all to make some of the stuff that is actually making them money. I agree the messages they send are totally ghetto and disrespectful to the human race. I can't believe it's still around. Honestly, I thought it would die out by now.

I mainly hate it because it's gotten so STUPID over the last two or three years! i hate it that ALL the songs are about money and strippers and partying where they just repeat the same few words over and over. a good song has to either have a meaning or at least a catchy tune.

I CAN REMEMBER WHEN SOCIAL SCIENTISTS WERE TRYING TO PROVE THAT MOVIES , MUSIC AND VIOLENCE WERE DETRIMENTAL TO SOCIETY ....

.WE'VE COME AROUND FULL CIRCLE .IT SEEMS THE RESEARCH IS CORRECT..............
I DON'T HATE RAP , SOME OF IT SPEAKS TO OPPRESSION AS IT SHOULD , BUT THE VIOLENCE TOWARD WOMEN AND THE SUGGESTION OF DEVIANCE IN ALL FORMS IS TOO MUCH ........

INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH .IT IS THE TWISTING OF FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS THAT DEFENDS THIS STUFF....

IT HAS ALSO CREATED A GAP IN THE ATTITUDES OF SOME RACES TO OTHERS AND WILL BE SHOWN TO HAVE DESTROYED A PORTION OF DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING'S LEGACY... AND HAS THROWN CIVIL RIGHTS .AND THE RIGHTS OF WOMEN... BACK INTO THE PLACE WHERE THIS ABUSE CAME FROM IN THE FIRST PLACE...........

Will Smith is good. His songs actually have a good beat to them, and he has class. The rest of it for the most part is a bunch of boooooorrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiinnnnnnggggggggg crap! It all sounds the same!! And that is not an exaggeration!!

no but i do hate the lyrics of the popular artist which do degrade women and promote killing and some kids take it to seriously and that's why they grow up to be "gangsters" but i think that rap is really a good kind of music with exception of the popular trend

Nowadays, RAP IS CRAP. When it first surfaced with the likes of NWA & artists similar to them, they spoke about how hard life was in compton n stuff before they started this East versus West crap.

I hate the rap, most of the lyrics are very vulgar, they make women look like trash, and they influence violence as if it was good.
