I'm using windows XP on an IBM Thinkpad, and occasionly a pixel of a different color than it should be appears. It's always one at a time, and the color is usually the same as a color on a page or document I visited earlier.
Any ideas of what's happening?

graphics driver may be a bit buggy... my HP TC4200 has this odd flicker from time to time. not the most encouraging thing, but seems likely a software problem, and im not particularly bugged by it

may have a problem with your graphix card../chip

download the lastest direct x for your computer

Also test your directx

click start then run the type dxdiag - that should scan your system - now click on display and test direct draw and direct 3d - still same prob?

also if fails - right click my computer > then properties > then hardware > then dev manager > click + next to display that should show your graphix card - right click and then uninstall

now goto the ide ata/atapi controllers - click on the plus + then right click on the controller > then uninstall > restart your pc > it should then find new hardware and ask you to restart again - then try a game

if all this fails and you have clean your fans then unfortunately you graphix card may be faulting

hope this helps

Well, if you've had the puter for any length of time, it could be that the video card has tired out and is starting to fire random pixels..
May be time to replace it..

Check for video driver updates. May or may not be the problem. Could also be the fact that the screen is failing.

Probably a defective monitor. Does it happen on more than one monitor?
