Here is what I did:
1) Find total number of Americans eating peanut butter = 0.83 x 296,483,000 = 246,080,890
2) Find the total gallons that these 246,080,890 Americans eats per year = 246,080,890 x (3/7) = 105,463,238.6 gallons
3) Find the lifetime consumption = 105,463,238.6 x 77.6 = 8,183,947,315 gallons.
This is the total life time consumption of all Americans. If ask for an average American, then just divide by 296,483,000 = 27.6034 gallons.
For an average American, the total life time consumption of peanut butter is = 0.83 x(3/7) x 77.6 = 27.6034 gallons

296,483,000 (Americans) x 77.6 (years) x 3 (pounds of PB) / 7 (lbs per gal) = American life consumption of PB in gallons.
OR 296,483,000 x 77.6 x 3 / 7 = 9,860,177,486 (almost 10 billion)
Now 83% = 83/100 = X / 9,860,177,486
So if you cross multiple you get
9,860,177,486 x 83 = 100x
OR 818,394,731,300 = 100x
Divide each side by 100 for value of x
8,183,947,313 = x
American eat approximately 8 billion gallons of peanut butter in an average lifetime.
Are you thinking of giving Skippy a little competition????

answer...
number of americans eating PB = 8% x 296,483,000 = 246,080,890
(gallons of PB eaten per year) 246,080,890 x 3/7 = 105,463,238.6 gallons of PB
lifetime consumption = 105,463,238.6 x 77.6 = 8,183,947,315 gallons of PB
8,183,947,315 / 296,483,000 = 27.60342858
28 gallons of PB eaten for an average american.
life time consumption of peanut butter for an average american = 83% x3/7 x 77.6 = 27.60342858 gallons of PB
why not eat it, Peanut butter (and peanuts) do not contain any cholesterol, are 25 per cent protein, contain vitamin E, which is good for circulation, and B vitamin,.
