I am looking for a lock. It's called the new york lock. It is a steel rod that is attached to the floor to be slide into place when you enter or exit your home

Had one when I lived in Manhattan in the late 70s. They broke into my place 4 times with the lock in place and locked. Tells you how effective it was.

You know I always wanted one of those and thought I thought up the idea...so they are called new york locks. After reading the replies, I am glad I did not insist on installing one. A local locksmith said it would be expensive. Try a burglar alarm. Sorry..
