Simple, infallable way to be sure:
wear bright new WHITE cotton underwear, preferably jockey short style. Change it every 12 hours.
If you have pubic lice, they will poop on your underwear and there will be TINY LITLE BROWN SPECS on the white cotton cloth.
No brown specs, no lice. Brown specs, and you need treatment for pubic lice, aka crabs, available at a pharmacy.
The white underwear will also work as a check to see that you got rid of them all.

Seriously, if you see some mini crabs crawling around, likely it is not pubic lice. You may itch from shaving. You know when your hair starts to grow back you will want to scratch so bad, you might go and get a hair brush to do so. Put some moisturizing lotion on it.

If you have this undesirable problem merely shaving will not suffice. There is a non-prescription ointment available at any drugstore. If you cannot find it on your own, ask the pharmacist. Do not be embarrassed...just seek the help and the remedy will take care of it painlessly and quickly.

Plucking (tweezing), Shaving, Depilatory creams and Waxing are temporary hair removal methods.
Waxing usually lasts for 3 weeks, but it is painful.
Electrolysis and laser hair removal are "permanent" hair removal methods but are expensive and you have to find a trained professional, otherwise your skin could be damaged.

Try rubbing sugar around where its itching and that will stop the lice. The sugar rots their teeth.
