I would have to say the smell of freshly cut grass takes me back to being a child. As a child growing up in the 50's, myself and the neighborhood kids played outside for hours and hours a day. And there were ALOT of us! Back then, five children in a family was considered a small family! There were five kids in my family. Our next door neighbors had eight kids. A family across the street had 13 kids. There was also about four more families with an average of six kids per family on the same block.

We did cartwheels on the grass, ran on it, jumped on it and sat on it as we watched the clouds go by. We especially loved playing on freshly cut grass, so when I smell it, I'm always reminded of my childhood.

Quite often a smell or music. I grew up at the beach and sometimes the sunlight will be just right and I can imagine over the next horizon is the ocean.....though I am in Montana. Music from the 60's will often take me back to a particular moment or feeling all those years ago. Kind of a bittersweet experience.
