I'll highlight a few points here
“The Montreal Protocol, which now has 189 member nations, is considered one of the most effective environmental treaties.”
“…replacement chemicals whose use has grown because of the Montreal treaty… are considered potent greenhouse gases that harm the climate — up to 10,000 times worse than carbon dioxide emissions.”
So the most effective envornmental treaty has contributed by bringing into use shemicals that are up to 10,000 times worse the CO2 from your SUV
Talk about unintended consequences!
If this is the result of listening to environmentalists why are we still listening?

The artic ice melting wont affect sea level because the ice is already floating in the water. Yes some glaciers on land are melting, but some (Antarctica, northern Greenland, Himalayan mountains) are getting larger and thicker. And to not blame the people to fought for the treaty for the results of the treaty is to not blame someone who leaves a loaded gun on the floor in a preschool or any deaths or injuries because “they didn’t choose” for that to happen.
The Montreal protocol
(which the US did sign) simply banned the efficient chemicals and forced people to find less efficient, environmentally dangerous alternatives.
And I don’t want to hear anything about greedy businessmen if you benefit from there “greed.” So if you don’t live in, or go to school in or work in or visit any building with A/C, or drive a car with A/C, then you can talk about “greedy business owners”

Global warming is a political entitlement to tax, regulate and oppose the rich on behalf of those who want more but can't earn it.
Ask them to explain how the earth managed to warm up enough to melt 5 ice ages without mans help?

The United States has not signed an international treaty dealing with recuction of chemicals in our air(pollutants). The U.S. contributes 25 percent of all pollutants that affect the ozone layer around our globe(and therefore has holes now). The United States does not obligate chemical plants to filter their chimneys, etc., nor do they work on developing new and safer ways for their industry---they simply puff all those pollutants into our air. In addition to that, China became the economic superpower of the far east but does little to nothing to prevent our air to become so destructive to the ozone layer. So when it comes to responsiblity for global warming, I busily point my fingers toward the United States and China. It does not surprise me that China does not want to pay for sophisticated measures to clean up the air--why should they? The economic superpower of the western wolrd doesn't have to do this, so why should they? But no matter what, it is my personal belief that it is too late to turn the tide on this one. We will all go down in this. The sea levels are already rising(a result of the fact that global warming causes ice in the arctic to melt, and it also prevent the build up of new ice). It took us 100 years, that is not a very long time, to destroy our own habitat. By the time we wake up, we'll all be dead. It will be hotter and hotter(the weather is already weird), and mother nature will try to find a new balance, meaning earthquakes, floodings, rivers breaking out of their artificial banks, and there will be no escape for anyone. Either we burn to death or drown to death---and we can all thank the United States Of America, which is so greedy that they want to make profit and not be bothered with "banalities" like a clean air act....it is simply too late....

It's not the environmentalists' fault. They didn't choose the replacements for the CFCs they campaigned to outlaw. That choice was made by greedy business owners cutting corners to maximize their profits. If you must blame someone, blame them. The law can only prevent manufacturers from using chemicals known to be harmful. It can't force them to make intelligent choices on the substitutes.
All of this is in the article you pointed out, but apparently you see only what you want to see and ignore the rest. I know you won't choose this as the best answer because it's not what you wanted to hear, but other people will see this and know the truth.

Environmentalists are most responsible. They exagerated this whole thing. The goal of environmentalism and the Democratic party is Global Socialism ruled by the UN. With the UN determining who gets resources based on who goes along with all the environmental lies.

The effect of SUVs is far more pronounced than the usage of alternative chemicals instead of CFCs. SUV drivers win, by far, the award of "most deadly for the planet."

MTBE was supposed to clean the air too, and ended up poisoning groundwater. People do love to demand action without a clue what best to do.
