okay so hamsters and kittens have a different number of chromosomes.
Think about it this way...
why wouldn't you mate if you were in a room with a horse...well first of all it's not appealing. Let's just say the horse isn't "your type"
kittens won't be attracted to hamsters...that's how nature is

one, they are different species, Two, a kitten is not sexually interested in anything until it's around 6 mo. old or more. Three, get the kitten out of there before it kills the hamster! They might form a beautiful friendship, but confined like that, it's more likely that the kitten will look upon the hamster as prey. See, I took your question seriously in spite of all temptation to get rude.

I used to have a "Kamster" or "Hitten" as it is also known. It was hell trying to get Mittens to mate with Major Tom and I actually wore out a couple of hamsters trying.
One piece of advice it is better to cover the cat in peanut butter then to rub the hamster in catnip.
It might take a few hamsters to achieve you goal, I suggest you keep trying.

The temp. and mood are all wrong. Play some nice music, and turn up the heat a bit. Doing that got me my sweet hybrid.
