OK so last night i had to take children's benadryl because we didn't have benadryl pills. So i took 4tsp. because it said for ages 12 and over take 2-4 tsp. soo last night i got this headache where i felt like i was moving but i was only being still. It kind of felt like my face was a little bit numb and that the top of my mouth seemed like it was moving, i also felt really lightheaded and felt like i was gonna colapse, i tend to get panic attacks so were they symptoms of panic attacks or did i accidentally take an overdose of benadryl? i was also really really sleepy and felt tired.

You did not take too much Benadryl unless you are taking a medication to prevent panic attacks or for anxiety too. If you take the medications together, you can feel very sedated. At any rate, Benadryl alone will do that to many people. That is why they use it in a lot of sleeping pills and in meds like Tylenol PM. It makes most people drowsy - especially at the higher dose.
When I take it, the dopey drowsy feeling doesn't wear off until the following afternoon. That is why I seldom use it. I will take allergy medicine (such as Claritin,) with Loratidine in it instead. If you are taking medications for anxiety or panic disorders, you really have to be careful, because combining them with other meds that cause drowsiness can cause some nasty side effects and in some cases death. Before I combine medications, I always go to: http://www.drugdigest.org/DD/Interaction/ChooseDrugs or a similar website. It will tell you if it is safe to take both medications at the same time.

You didn't give any indication of your size or age but four teaspoons should not have been too much if you are an adult. Panic attacks are mean dudes, I know from experience, and they often occur when you are concerned about something and then it's hard to tell if you're having a panic attack or if it's something more. In the future, try to keep 25 mg. Benadryl capsules on hand just in case.

You took 50 mg of benadryl if you took 4 teaspoons of the medication.

The only way you would be getting an overdose is if you measured incorrectly. Ie took 4 tablespoons instead of 4 teaspoons.

Benadryl can cause marked drowsiness.

Well you didn't overdose because 4 tsp. is still a recommended amount. Anyways, in the hospitals, if a patient has a severe allergic reaction to something, they are given an even larger dose. It may have been a reaction to the drug, or, maybe it was just allergies.

Whoa! Careful with that stuff. It sounds like a reaction of some kind. I have suffered with panic attacks for years, but it doesn't sound like that to me. And I have taken Benadryl for allergies with no problem. It's good for sleep - my doctor told me to take it, and I slept like a baby! But I take the capsules - that way I know the dosage is right.

I highlt doubt u overdosed. If so, you would still be asleep. Some children's medications have different ingredients in them that help mainly chilren. Something must have not agreed with you, and caused that episode. Or, you may have freaked yourselp out about overdosing(I know a lot of people that do this), and you actually gave yourself symptoms.

Benadryl is the same ingredient as the sleep medication in tylenol pm. I don't think that you "overdosed" on it, but it is normal that it made you sleepy.

That's a pretty typical reaction to Benadryl. Sometimes I take it to help me sleep.
