I have tried the work at home sites. Most are not legit. I have been out of the work force for more than 10 years and am looking to get back in. I am scared to death of all this new technology/computer programs out there. Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

There are a lot of books on this subject. There are many businesses you can start up from home with little or no money. You just have to work a lot harder and make a lot less money at first. Some ideas are dog-walking or pet daycare. Babysitting/nanny. You could learn medical coding and billing and start your own outsourcing firm, but that takes some training and some money. Basically all you need is a skill or hobby and the drive to promote your product or service.

If you want to be self-employed there are some abilities that you will need to have. The main things you need in this regard is self-motivation, organization, and a willingness to learn and do research about your industry. Get some books on home businesses, and stay away from websites. Go to the book store and find a good book on the subject.
