my last doctors visit,she said i was 50% effaced will this mean i will go into labor soon?

No one can predict that but the thinning out is a sign of things starting. But it still could be awhile. Good thing is if it is thinning out now then labor tends to go by a little faster. Thats what the first contractions are supposed to do ... help thin and dilate the cervix so just think of it as getting a head start!

not necessarily, I was dialated two centimeters and 60 percent effaced at five months pregnant. There is no way of telling it just depends on you and your body. Dont take anything to put you in labor though.

hard to say your cervix is just begining to ripen and open you could be that way for a month or more. how fatr along are you. it all varies. but you are on your way slowlygood luck and congrats

Depends on you. Everyone is different. I'd ask you mother how hers went & your sisters if you have any w/ children. This type of thing is familial.
You could stay effaced for a while, or you could be like me. I have what's called a "melting cervex". It's like a pat of butter hitting a hot skillet! Lucky for me, sorry for you.
