Honestly, my only idea of improvement is... yaoi. Or a mix/fuzion of these comics and the Japanese comics style aka manga.

To begin with, I'd make an overhaul to his costume. Nothing too dramatic, but I'd eliminate the trunks over the pants look, and give him pants. I'd keep the colors, and symbol, but update it slightly. Jim Lee had designed a prototype Superman costume a couple of years ago in Wizard, and I liked it. I'd have Lois Lane leave Clark, because of the stress of a human being involved with a Superhero. I'd have Wonder Woman and Superman hitched, as it just makes sense to me. Have you read "Kingdom Come"? I'd also make him ditch the whole Clark Kent identity, as he is Superman, and should take his role more seriously, as does Batman. Besides, the glasses diguise-doesn't work. I'd prevent any time-travel on Supe's part, as this causes too many problems. I'd also introduce some better villains for Supes', to showcase how powerful he truly is. No more Mxypltzik!! Just some minor tweaks, and also kill of Luthor-he's old news, already.

Superman is not an interesting character. He is too powerful, too perfect, and too iconic. If I were to be given creative control, I would only touch on the first two. He’s big blue, the World’s Biggest Boy Scout. That’s just who he is, and you can’t take that away. Superman can’t kill, and that’s final. So let’s see what we can do.
I LIKED Byrne’s take. No more interstellar travel on his own. No more flying faster than light. Not the sharpest tack and no stupid powers (Super-Ventriloquism? The hell?). Back there he goes. I like the idea of a giant robot being able to push the guy around. That’s where he should be.
Perfection is impossible. The best thing to have happen to Superman’s character would be to have him fail. Not constantly, but every once in a while. Maybe he doesn’t get to the bomb in time, and hundreds of people die. Maybe Jimmy doesn’t get to his signal watch in time, and he’s gone. Not Lois, who is every bit as important as he is, but a big minor character needs to go. Hey, Perry’s getting up there in years. Let’s shake up his world a bit.
Those are my half-baked ideas, shot of from the top of my head, to the tips of my fingers.

I would not change much... I dont read the comics, but I know a bit about Sman (I love the superman returns movie and have looked around online). I think that his disguse, the glasses, that he wears as Clark Kent should be left alone. The simplicity of it is what makes it so good! Its also amusing to think that a pair of glasses has fooled America (and Lois..... and everyone in the comics...) for, like, 80 years..... =D LOL....
Superman himself shouldn't be tampered with. If you change a character, especially the main one, too much you can lose the intrest of your audience. Nobody wants to have to keep up with changes like that. We are too busy with the changes in our own lives. However, I do think that Lois should be more independant and a tad less "clingy" to superman.
Anyway thats my input and I will leave it at that!

I'd do a series on exactly how his powers work, so that the next generation of artists and writers would be bound by that and not gradually inch up his powers until they were the same as they were before-- basically, back in the sixties, he was almost omnipotent, blowing out supernovas with his super breath, for goodness' sake! They should have called him Supernatural man, because he just plain broke the laws of physics.
Then I would give him and Lois a child-- one, that since it was not born on Krypton and did not go through the Kryptonian gestation matrix, would not have the powers. Basically, the kid would be tough, strong and fast but would not have the invulnerability, flight, super senses, etc. I see those powers as being of artificial origin, due to Kryptonian technology in the gestation matrix.

1st of all What about steel, they need to put John Henry Irons in more comics. What happened to Pete, Clark's Teenage friend? They forgot about Lois. Bring back Doomsday! They need to make a Doomasday Superman movie. Upgrade Superman's Uniform. he's been hangin out with Batman and he still can't fight. I know that Lex Luther is his arch enemy and I think he doesn't need to be in every damn movie. Wht about Metello, Hank Hinshaw, Brainiac. WHy can't Superman talk to Laura (his mom) sometimes? He always talks to Jarel (his dad). One of the best questions Ive ever answered, Thanx

Problem with the Big S is over-exposure!
3-to-4 monthlies plus JLA plus guest-star roles
take there toll on big blue!!
Things i'd like to see---
move pre-emptive strikes against evil---like maybe
going up after Darkseid once and for all?!!
get a schedule and KEEP IT!!! no more missing
a week here or there--and maybe only 2 monthly
titles --ACTION and SUPERMAN--should be enough.
Lets get prices down off the $3 a piece per title
per month! AT least offer a subscription service
deal where if you subcribe to Action and JLA-you'd get
SUPERMAN free!!
Lois needs to be more like Sue Storm of the FF
no more rescue me crap.
the woman is suppose to be a legendary newswoman-
so she should be able to handle herself!
and lastly--TAKE OUT LEX LUTHOR ONCE AND FOR ALL!
LL would be a great villian for Batman--but please-he's a
minor player at best against the MAN of STEEL!

I prefer him the way he was before Byrne ruined him.
I liked the old Legion of Super-Heroes, also, and hate all the changes they have made with them.
