Absolutely! My last car was totaled by a woman on a cell phone. Your attention is diverted and your mind is not on your driving. I know, it seems like it would be no worse than talking to a passenger, but for some reason it's more distracting. And the person on the other end can't say, "Look out for that dog!" - or Red light! or Icy patch!

Two hgh school kids here were killed last winter when a deer ran in front of their truck while the driver was on the phone.

Yep, bad idea.

Yah it's dangerous. A lady riding her bike got killed by a girl driving and talking on her phone two weeks ago! Not 10 minutes from where I live! Police said it was 'cause the girl driving was on her cell!
I pull over to talk on mine!

yes. most drivers tend to forget (because it evolves into a daily routine) that driving is still a full responsibility. even if we think we can, the brain can only focus on one activity, while putting the rest in "background mode". so if you do multi-tasking, then chances are, one will get your more of your attention than the other.

sadly, realization is already too late if you're dead.

Yes, it can cause you lose focus on driving and cause an accident. There should not be anything to distract you from driving ie: phone, i pod, makeup..anything that will cause you to take your eyes off the road...please keep your eyes on the road I'm on it with my kids.

It could be. I actually think is against the law to use your cell while driving.
