I don't understand how homosexual marraige is immoral either. People say it is anti-Christian; so why doesn't the church just not recognize the marriages? At least let the government allow it. Not everyone here is Christian. I could give a flyin fvck as to what the Bible says.

"well, if we alow two of the same sex to marry, then three would, or four, or five . . ." cultures have been doing this for thousands of years. Mankind didn't crumble, but that's not the point. Homosexual unions are in no way promoting polygamy. How the two could be even lumped together is beyond me.

"Then people can marry their horse, car, plant, cat . . . " how is interspecial unions even garnered from homosexual marriage? Native Americans, African tribes, European tribal societies all practiced homosexual marriage and no one has married his or her pet/favorite material object.

Let's look at Europe. Has anyone there married their pet? their car? Their dog? Has civilization come down over their heads? Has God smote them?

Homosexuals are harming no one at all. How it is even immoral, two peope loving one another, is beyond me. I guess some people really don't understand what morality is in any case.

The truth is honey, it wouldn't. Being queer as well, I've come to realize that the only reason our society and government today won't treat us equally and allow us to marry whomever we wish is because not only do they fear us, change, and anything that is remotley different from the traditional norm of our world modern society, but people have learned to hate their fears, namely, us. Yes, they blatantly discrimitate as you put it, but sweetie, you have to understand where they are coming from in their argument, especially in order to fight it. Think back about past mistakes we've made by discriminating, and mistakes we are still making today. One big issue used to be slavery, and the discrimination against the black race, and also, of the indian race. And of course, the discrimination against WOMEN comes to mind as well, doesn't it? Those are just past examples however. Remember learning about Hitler and his Nazi's? How about the Crusades, against Jews, Muslims, etc. Or even in the bible, the New Testament, when they people discriminated against Jesus, and everyone that belived in him? What I'm trying to say is that humanity never learns. The moral of the story is that we HAVE no morals, at least, not enough good ones to prevent all the hate and discrimination that happens in life. So a gay couple wants to get married? WE see no problem with that, in fact, we support it, believing that love does not discriminate, so why should we? But you've got to understand, not everyone thinks the same way, and we can't FORCE morals on everyone. I believe in fighting for your rights, but, love, don't be discouraged when you face discrimination against you, it takes time for society to evolve, it can't just be an overnight thing. I do believe that eventually society will accept us, we just have to fight for it and hope that day will come sooner. Loves,

No Arthur, the country was founded on the Principle of Religious Freedom, the freedom to worship or not worship, the freedom from being forced to worship and the freedom from being held accountable in any way to any religion. If you think that's what Jesus said, and he didn't say anything of the sort, the speech you refer to is about not divorcing and has nothing to do with Homosexuality, then DON"T YOU DO IT you have no right, God Given or otherwise, to stand up and attempt to force anyone to follow your MISinterpretation of that religious text.

Marriage is a Legal Commitment between two people. That's it. It does not oblige them to make babies, it does not obligate them in any way to anyone at any time other than to each other.

Good question. The reason that it happens is cause the government is doing something it should not be, mixing church and state. They are suppose to be kept separate, yet if they were actually kept separate, the states would have no reason to disallow gay marriage. Also, some religions do allow it, so the state is only using some religions to fuel it's argument. The whole thing is totally f***ked up!

Because people's religious beliefs are so part of their identity that to question them means to question who they are. Given that lots of negative stuff made it into the bible, we have anti-gay conditioning that is directly associated with god. People then think that to question this is to question their faith -- this is difficult to do for most people. If they could do some research, they'd see that the anti-gay stuff was added to Leviticus in the bible because jewish tribes wanted to divinely mandate procreative sex to increase their numbers (fend off enemies). It then appears to the letters to the romans from Paul (Saul of Tarsus) because he was jewish and was raised in the anti-gay culture.

It wouldn't at all, it might shame straight marriage though cause odds are u would have a smaller divorce rate, lol. I think it is a ridicules law, but they also had a law years ago banning interracial marriage that changed and so will this.

First, the only way your ability to marry would affect mine would be if we sought to marry each other.

Second, our abilities to marry (eachother or or not) affect only those who Choose (read that word carefully!) to be affected.

Gay marriage affects only those who choose to be affected for both the good and the bad.

I think the argument goes "First gays marry, then 3 people, then 5 gays, then all of a sudden cats are marrying houses, and EVERYONE gets the financial benefits of marriage". Or some such other slippery slope. . .

Last month, there was a question on here that stated: "Should divorce be illegal?". This would prevent many people from making stupid mistakes.

I'm against gay marriage, not because it will threaten the sanctity of marriage, but because it will threaten the sanctity of homosexuality
